India has firmly rejected China’s attempts to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh, emphasizing that assigning “invented names” will not change the fact that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, stated that China persistently tries to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh, a region that India considers as its inalienable territory.
This response came after China released a fourth list of 30 new names for various places in Arunachal Pradesh, further escalating tensions between the two countries. India’s stance remains unwavering, asserting that Arunachal Pradesh has always been and will continue to be an integral part of the country.
The recent developments follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh, where he inaugurated the Sela Tunnel, a strategic infrastructure project. China’s actions, including the release of standardized geographical names for the region, have been met with strong opposition from India, with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar dismissing China’s claims as “ludicrous.”
