PM Modi encourages Team India after World Cup defeat

After India’s heartbreaking loss to Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final, the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered words of encouragement to the Indian team. Despite its ten consecutive victories in the tournament, Virat Kohli’s side fell just short to rival Australia in a 6-wicket defeat.

Modi told the team, praising star bowler Mohammed Shami and calling the players to smile. Radiating positivity, the PM stressed for the players to stick together and lift each other up during this challenging post-match period. Leaving no one out, Modi personally engaged with each squad member, congratulating effort and motivating continued hard work.

On the match itself, important batting knocks came from skipper Rohit Sharma (47), Virat Kohli (54), and KL Rahul (66) to set a fighting total of 240. Australia successfully chased it down thanks to centuries from Travis Head (137) and Marnus Labuschagne (58).

Looking forward with resilience, the Prime Minister welcomed the players to meet again whenever they visit Delhi. He emanated pride for the team’s journey so far.

The two cricket powers now shift gears toward a 5-match T20I series beginning Thursday, as this latest exciting chapter in their storied rivalry continues to unfold. Though solemn from Sunday’s result, under PM Modi’s uplifting words, India gears up to bounce back strong.
