Khushi Kapoor advocates for online empathy and reduced snap judgements
Khushi Kapoor, daughter of the late Sridevi, has appealed to the public to exercise greater empathy and avoid hasty judgements based on fleeting glimpses into others’ lives, particularly on social media platforms like Instagram.
In a recent interview, Kapoor addressed the common practice of forming opinions about individuals based on brief online content, such as a 10-second reel. She questioned the validity of such judgements, pointing out that viewers often lack comprehensive knowledge of the person’s background or circumstances.
Kapoor, alongside Junaid Khan, son of Aamir Khan, also shared her perspectives on the increasing presence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its effects on society. She voiced concerns regarding the potential misuse of AI, particularly on social media, highlighting the risk of digital manipulation and the creation of misleading representations.
“There are quite scary things on the internet due to AI. People need to defend themselves from things they haven’t even done. It’s a very scary thought,” Kapoor stated, urging individuals to be more vigilant about their online activities and digital footprint.
Junaid Khan contributed to the conversation by emphasising the need to prioritise genuine human connections in an increasingly digital world. He stressed the significance of real-world interactions with family, friends, and loved ones, advocating for a healthy balance between technology and face-to-face communication.
Reflecting on the broader influence of mobile phones and digital media, Junaid noted their role in amplifying interactions and encouraged more considerate and respectful online conduct. “Respect is key in every situation, no matter what,” he commented.
The two actors were speaking in anticipation of their forthcoming romantic comedy, ‘Loveyapa’, which marks Junaid Khan’s debut in a theatrical film role. ‘Loveyapa’ has attracted considerable attention following a premiere screening in Mumbai, which was attended by notable figures from the film industry, including Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.
