OTT has evolved and is here to stay, says actress Vahbiz Dorabjee
Be it Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahani, Savitri, Saraswatichandra or Bahu Hamari Rajnikant, Vahbiz Dorabjee has always stood out with her acting prowess. She has also been very choosy about her work and believes in doing multiple things. The actor talks about her career and journey so far in showbiz.
“My last show was Bahu Hamari Rajnikant but after that, I did a few web projects namely Kashmakash: Kya Sahi Kya Galat and Hiccups and Hookups. But the thing is that I have never been a typical actor. I have always had my fingers in all. So I like to keep some stable business also because I prefer to keep myself busy. Also, since I have a lot of other talents, I like to tap that as well,” she smiles.
OTT, according to Vahbiz, has changed the game. Content in every medium including TV and films have evolved, so is the case of OTT. She feels the OTT boom is here to stay.
“I love it (OTT). I only watch OTT myself and I’m really dying to be part of some good projects. So if the universe is listening or somebody is listening I really want to get cast in a good series or film on OTT. I love the content, new concept, and casting,” she continues, “As far as evolution is concerned, it’s true that things have changed. It has become more real, and more relatable. I think the audience is not ready to accept any trash, they have become sensible. So definitely there has been a lot of progress, and I think every medium is evolving, which is good for all.”
Social media has also revolutionized the way we live, work, create as well as view content too. Agreeing, the actor adds, “Today we are in a new trend. Social Media is the new king, but it can have its good and bad points. But, I think it all depends on an individual. It’s up to us whether we want to use it in a positive way or in a negative way. I absolutely enjoy my social media and my followers. I love my lifestyle, and I can put it out there and influence people for good. So obviously I use it more in a positive manner. But you will never see me sharing my private life or about my family. I use it more for my work and to influence people in a positive way. So yes it has its advantages and disadvantages.”
Vahbiz is considered a people’s person by her industry friends. She is also known for her excellent communication skills. “I have always been told that ever since I was small and it feels good (smiles). Even in school, I was always like that. I came from a co-ed school, and always had a lot of friends. Girls, guys, and even my parents have always known this quality and in fact, they always wanted me to open my own PR company. It is something that I don’t have to try hard. I’m not a fake person, and I get along with everybody. Honestly, it’s the relationships I have built over the years and everybody knows that I have never had any agendas or I’m not fake, so that helps. I’m just what I’m, and I’m a very loving person. So I think I give love, which is why I get love. It is as simple as that,” she says.
